Practice & Space Ep. 2 | The Bird Machine from Sergio Salgado on Vimeo.
Great video by Practice & Space about the legendary Jay Ryan!
The Bird Machine, inc., is a screen print poster workshop, owned and run by Jay Ryan, which is located very close to Chicago.
Jay has been making hand drawn screen printed posters for bands, and the clubs they play at since 1995. Jay is joined at the Bird Machine shop by Michael Lauritano and Jack Ryan. Many thanks to Jay and everyone at the Bird Machine for letting me invade their space.

This is a great Kickstarter Campaign for CASSETTE: A Documentary Film about the Cassette Tape by Zack Taylor and Seth Smoot, that has since finished and met its goal. Check out the link to the page here and watch this great video above! I love seeing the behinds the scenes videos of the tape makers and it’s great to see they are people who love what they do! I’m not sure if tapes can have a big of a come back as vinyl but I think they will always be around.
Here’s a pretty interesting video of Nas talking about his history with mix tapes.
The film will have its World Premiere at SXSW.

Here it is! The finished printed poster for Radar Recordings & Extinguish Boston‘s 9th Annual Last Night On Earth show with Caspian, Defeater, Constants & Dreamtigers.
Above is a video of the whole process of making this poster. Filmed, edited and printed by myself. I hope you like it!
The poster measures 18in.-24in. Is printed on Black Licorice French Paper. Has an edition of 112. Signed and numbered, 3 Color print.
I’m very happy with the outcome of this poster and am really excited to have a little part in this show. These will go on sale for the first time the night of the show for a super low $10 price tag, and if any are left they will be for sale at my Etsy Store afterwords. I also have a small artist edition with no text available at my store now.
*UPDATE: These are for sale right now at my Store.*
Big thanks to Ben Hoffman at Extinguish for hooking me up as always! And thanks to David Zwickerhill for the above photo and Craig Hardin and Meagan Anderson for helping me print.

Here is a link to the chocolate record video.
After experimenting with molding chocolate onto records and making a homemade template of the record to use as a chocolate mold, baker Ben Milne finally connected with the band’s record label, which gave him a press used to mold vinyl into records. The result? A chocolate record that actually plays music!
Pretty awesome idea, Ben, of the Fisher & Donaldson bakery, say’s people will get around 10 plays from the record before it wears down. Of course once it has worn out you can always eat it.
Ben added: “I heard that vinyl is on the increase and that CDs are on their way out, so chocolate records could be part of a resurgence and people getting their record players out of their attics.”
Unfortunately only fifty of the chocolate 7″ singles are being produced. You would also need to keep these in a very cool place if you actually wanted to keep this for an extended amount of time.
Check out all of their websites below:

After further searching it looks like a few other people have tried out this chocolate record trick.

DKNG‘s new poster for The Black Keys is pretty amazing. I love seeing this process video. I will never know this much about Adobe products. This print is an 18″ x 24″ screenprint, has an edition of 275, and costs $40.
Pick one up from DKNG here.
